Royal Lineage and Familial Discord
The story begins with the mighty King Uttanpad, who reigned over the entire earth, his noble lineage stretching back to the illustrious creator himself, Lord Brahma! The blood of legends coursed through his veins, for he was the son of Manu, who in turn was the son of the divine Brahma, making the great creator his grandfather. King Uttanpad had two beautiful wives, Suneeti and Suruchi. Suneeti had a son named Dhruv, and Suruchi had a son named Uttam.
The dynamics of this royal family are quickly complicated by the King's favouritism towards Suruchi, the younger and more beautiful wife. The King was very attached to her. She was very proud of the attention Uttanpad showered on her and was jealous by nature. This preference created a palpable tension within the palace, setting the stage for Dhruv’s challenging journey.
The Sting of Injustice
A kingdom filled with laughter and joy, young Uttam was having a delightful time playing in his father's lap, basking in the warmth of the King's affection. Just then, Dhruv entered the room, his eyes sparkling with a longing to join in the fun. However, the King, wary of Suruchi's temper, turned a blind eye to his son’s plight.
As Dhruv made his move to leap onto his father’s lap, Suruchi’s voice pierced the air with a cold command.
"Stop right there, Dhruv!"
She declared with a sharpness that made the atmosphere crackle.
“You can't play with your father, not now! You’re not my son. If you wish to share these moments like Uttam does, you must pray to the Lord. Ask Him to grant you the gift of a new life, where you are born as my son!”
The weight of her words hung heavy in the air, leaving Dhruv heartbroken.
A Mother's Wisdom
At just five years old, Dhruv was feeling the sting of his stepmother’s harsh words like an arrow to his heart. Watching in silence, the King felt a swirl of emotions but hesitated to step in, leaving his son to fend for himself.
Overwhelmed with sadness, Dhruv ran to his mother, tears streaming down his face. Suneeti, noticing her son’s pain, embraced him tightly. She tried to comfort him, but explaining the injustice he faced at such a tender age was an impossible task. She then searched for the right words to ease his pain.
“My dear Dhruv," she said, her voice warm and reassuring, “go and devote yourself to worshipping Lord Vishnu with all your heart. Focus on Him completely, and He will lift the weight of your sorrows. Remember, He is especially fond of His true devotees and will always be by your side.”
With those words, a spark of hope ignited in Dhruv's heart.
